Creating a Website: Chapter 14

This chapter is all about how to include basic Javascript into your webpage. Javascript allows you to incorporate such lovely options pop-up windows and animations. And everyone wants pop-up windows on their crisp, professional looking site, right? (end sarcasm). I'm still trying to figure out the usefullness of this chapter. Nothing annoys me more than having pop-up windows scream at me, or seeing silly animations. Why in the world would I ever want these on my website? I want to attract visitors, not turn them away. Growing and shrinking paragraphs? How juvenille. Making the words fly from side to side? Sounds like a PowerPoint presentation, not a professional website.

The image rollover function on page 429 might be useful for my style blog. However, I would generally prefer just to include more pictures than to "hide" one of my images behind another.

The collapsible text function on page 431 could be useful for a FAQs page, although an un-ordered list with anchors would work just fine as well.
